Who is Marco Manzella?

Marco Manzella was born in Livorno in 1962. After the School of Art he graduated in Art Conservation working for a period on mural paintings and ancient artistic techniques.

He started to exhibit in 1985. He constantly developed his interest in Tuscan painting of the 15th and 16th century and in figurative art of the 20th century.
In 1997, for the first time, he approached English figurative painting, then American painting, often travelling in the USA. From this period his subjects, mostly interiors, turned to colourful scenes and the water became one of the more important elements.

In 1998, with the sponsorship of Brescia Town Council, he took part in the International Plein-air in Mirabel, organized by the town of Darmstadt (D) and started a productive relationship with some German art galleries.
He has always been fascinated by Spanish culture and since 2001 his art has been recognized in Spain through the presentation of his works in public places.
In 2004 Laboratoires Boiron chose one of his paintings for their advertising campaign on homeopathy in France.

His recent works confirm his vocation for a strongly narrative painting. Some works return to the subject of the landscape, imagined as an artificial construction without any reference to a real place.
Part of his production is dedicated to graphics, which includes drawings and etchings.

He has been working with several galleries, both in Italy (Stefano Forni, Bologna – Poggiali e Forconi, Firenze – Entroterra, Milano) and abroad, setting up exhibitions in Spain, United States, France, Germany and Poland.

He lives and works in Brescia.
